About
Welcome to Joy Therapy, where healing and joy intersect to create a holistic approach to wellness.
Specializing in integrative bodywork and Cranial Sacral Therapy, the Hamilton, Ontario-based practice is offered by Andi D., a Registered Massage Therapist with over 30+ years of experience and education within alternative healthcare.
Offerings at Joy Therapy are designed to support clients on their personal journeys of healing and recovery, which means sessions with Andi take into full account the physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of each individual. While Joy Therapy’s services can be beneficial across a vast range of needs, Andi counts clients who experience chronic pain, brain injuries (TBI), concussions, and TMJ among those who have experienced meaningful relief from her process.
“As a neuroscience enthusiast and an integrative body therapist, I specialize in working with people who have not found relief from other forms of conventional treatment,” Andi D. explains. “I believe the body holds the innate intelligence of our being, and every experience, adversity, trauma, or injury can leave an impression on our tissues. This can have a profound impact on one’s physical and emotional health.
“We must create a healing environment for all our body systems to heal,” she continues. “To accomplish this, I use Cranial Sacral Therapy as my primary modality for reading and assessing the state of your internal environment. Through this integrative therapeutic approach, we can help create the best conditions for your mind, body, and spirit to thrive.”
What is Cranial Sacral Therapy? Andi describes it as the gentle facilitation of cerebral spinal fluid to release tension held deep within the body and central nervous system. “It’s a light-touch modality that can relieve pain and dysfunction to improve mind-body health and performance.”
In addition to Cranial Sacral Therapy, Andi also integrates additional modalities such as Dolphin Neurostim, medical acupuncture, visceral manipulation, and massage therapy, as well as her extensive training in fascial release, lymphatic drainage, somato-emotional release, mindfulness, and yoga into her integrative bodywork services.
“Given my middle name is Joy, I’ve always felt it’s my purpose to bring joy into the lives of others,” Andi shares. “This all said, focusing on joy doesn’t mean we let go of difficult emotions or completely alleviate pain, but rather shift how the brain processes these challenges.
“Ultimately, through our work together, my goal is to facilitate your healing journey by reducing your pain, connecting you to your heart, providing insight and resources, and opening your life to more joy.
“It’s my honour to help and be your guide!”
