About
The Silent Day Retreat by MYndful Movement is set to provide respite and reset for those in desperate need for a day of real peace and genuine tranquility. Set in the serene environment of Oakville Galleries alongside Lake Ontario, this day of deliberate and supported silence will help soothe sensory overload and overtaxed nervous systems.
This retreat will help create a mindful bubble, of sorts, where participants can temporarily set aside the mental and emotional labour of social interaction, allowing for a deeper level of rest than is typically possible in daily life.
The day flows through a variety of complementary healing modalities. Gentle yoga sequences are designed to be accessible to all bodies, focusing on releasing tension rather than achieving perfect form. Guided meditations provide tools for managing pain perception and quieting anxious thoughts. The mindful nature walks along Lake Ontario incorporate elements of Japanese forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), which studies show can help lower cortisol levels and improve immune function.
The sound bath component delivers passive healing through vibrational therapy, particularly beneficial for those with chronic fatigue who need restorative practices that don't require physical exertion. Throughout the day, participants practice mindful eating, developing a more intuitive relationship with nourishment that can help address the digestive issues often associated with chronic stress.
While maintaining personal silence, participants still benefit from the supportive energy of community healing. MYndful Movement's Deb Taylor will not be silent, but participants are encouraged to do their best to enjoy their own company and the group's energy through this relaxing day of mindful activities.

// About the Facilitator
As a classroom teacher and wellness coach, MYndful Movement founder Deb Taylor is focused on mental and physical health from the inside out. A seasoned sound healer, yoga instructor, and trauma-sensitive mindfulness practitioner with years of experience across music, meditation, yoga, nutrition coaching, and education, Deb offers a holistic approach to wellness that promotes healing on both a physical and emotional level. Her specific training in trauma-sensitive mindfulness allows her to create a safe, compassionate space for individuals who have experienced trauma, ensuring that retreats she hosts, corporate wellness presentations, sound baths, and yoga sessions are accessible and supportive for all participants.
In her monthly sound baths, Deb combines her musical expertise with her deep understanding of mindfulness and trauma awareness. Using instruments like crystal singing bowls, gongs, and chimes, she creates a soothing auditory environment that encourages deep relaxation and mental clarity. Her background in yoga instruction enhances this experience, guiding participants to release tension through mindful movement and breathwork.
Deb’s sessions are thoughtfully crafted to help participants achieve a deeper connection between mind and body, while also fostering emotional release and spiritual alignment. Her trauma-sensitive approach ensures that all individuals, regardless of their background or experiences, feel nurtured and empowered to explore their personal healing journey.
